Towbar wiring installation
Towbar wiring installation connects the vehicle to the lighting and other supported functions on your towing equipment. Mobile Towbar Fitting offers 7-pin and 13-pin electrics alongside our towbar supply-and-fit service in Preston and across Lancashire.
The right setup depends on the vehicle and on what you will connect. Tell us whether you are using a trailer, caravan, horse trailer, work trailer or bike carrier, and which plug it has.
We use wiring solutions suitable for the vehicle systems. The equipment and any additional functions are discussed for the particular installation, rather than treating all vehicles and all 13-pin sockets as the same.
7-pin and 13-pin options
A 7-pin connection covers the basic trailer-lighting functions, including indicators, brake lights and rear lights. It can be suitable for towing equipment that only needs those functions.
A 13-pin connection can support additional functions such as reversing lights and, with the appropriate wiring, power supply or charging. Those extra circuits are not automatically included simply because a socket has 13 pins.
Tell us exactly what you need from the connection. We can discuss a suitable wiring kit for your vehicle and intended use, including whether additional wiring is needed for the functions you want.

Plan the towbar and wiring together
The mechanical towbar and electrical setup should be considered together. Fixed flange, fixed swan neck and detachable swan neck options can be paired with suitable electrics, depending on the vehicle and selected equipment.
If you are changing towing equipment, tell us about both the current and intended connection. An adapter does not add functions that the installed wiring does not provide, so it helps to discuss the complete requirement before booking.
To request a quote, send the registration, fitting postcode and details of the trailer, caravan or carrier. Our mobile fitting service comes to your home or workplace across the listed service areas.
